The Low-Key Birthday (before the Party!)

Since Nolan's birthday fell on a Thursday, we decided to just celebrate at home with the 3 of us (and Harley) by opening a few gifts and eating some yummy birthday ice cream!  We knew his party following his birthday would be a big hit for him, so it was fine by us to lay low and keep it simple.  Nolan was thrilled to get to open some presents and loved finding out what was inside!  He received some cool new toys to play with, and especially loved his "The Good Dinosaur" figurines and got right to playing with them!  He couldn't contain his excitement for some big boy birthday pictures afterwards (and I couldn't believe how much he looks like his Daddy in these pictures)!

Earlier that day, we went out and got Nolan his first pet fish!  He really loves Elmo's World on Sesame Street, and we thought it would be cool to get him his own Dorothy!  He followed in suit and named his own fish Dorothy, fittingly, and absolutely adores her!  We spend lots of time watching her swim around, feed her (probably a little too much), and giggle and laugh when she comes to the surface to say Hi!  Nolan knows to feed Dorothy for every meal and loves being responsible to do so. We hope she lasts for a bit!! :) :)

After dinner, we celebrated by singing Happy Birthday to Nolan and eating some Cookies and Cream ice cream, which Nolan devoured and even asked for more... and of course, received, since it's his birthday and all!  After we sang Happy Birthday to him at dinner, he asked us to sing it to him twice before bedtime, and ever since, has been singing it to himself around the house.  Looks like he's a fan of birthdays!

I still can't believe I have a two year old.... ugh!  It goes by way too fast.  To read all about Nolan's two year update, check out the blog post here.... and to see how we celebrated his birthday party in Sesame Street style, check out everything over here!

Happy Birthday, Little Man!  I can't wait to see how much you change as a two year old and love seeing the little boy you are growing into!  We love you!
