Bump Watch: 14 Weeks

How far along? 14 weeks, 3 days
Total weight gain: Still none!
Maternity clothes? The shirt above that I'm wearing.  Annnnd some others here and there.  Mostly still in normal clothes with a belly band!
Stretch marks? Nope!
Sleep: Loving it still.
Best moment this week: Finding out that Baby Bean is a BOY!
Miss Anything? Deli meat, especially this week.  A ham and cheese sandwich from Port of Subs sounds amazing!
Movement: Still nothing, but looking forward to it soon!
Food cravings: Yes.  Weirdest pregnancy craving, ever, I think.  For the past week, I've been needing lumpias in my life. (Filipino food... similar to an egg roll but with meat).  I've had lumpia maybe five times total in my life.  My college roommate would make them as well as some coworkers every now and then.  So, I did some research, and tracked down some lumpia and bought a ton.  And it was delicious.  Totally worth people thinking I was insane.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not much lately!
Gender prediction: No more predicting.. it's a BOY!

Labor Signs: Not even close!
Symptoms: Just more bloating, as usual!  Reflux and being super tired.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, a little emotional this week, and still exhausted!
Looking forward to: Starting to look more pregnant and less bloated!

Work Gender Reveal

I didn't have much energy or time to want to throw a huge gender reveal party for everyone, but I did want to do something fun for revealing what our baby bean was!  After making a few announcements on the computer, I decided I would leave the big announcement to a fun photo reveal for everyone to see, and then do something a little more creative and detailed for my coworkers.

I decided to do a Balloon Pop, and got together a few things to make that happen.  The day before, I had everyone make their own prediction on what Baby Kelton would be (doctor's included!)  The next day, I got enough balloons for everyone to pop one for themselves, and also provided some yumminess to munch on throughout the day.

I think everyone loved the reveal and I couldn't be happier that everyone at work is so happy and supportive for us!  Baby Boy Kelton has a lot of love all around!

A Little Miss or Little Mister?

Today was the day!  After work, we found out the gender of our little bean.  Dr. Juarez's office doesn't offer the anatomy scan until 18-22 weeks, and there was NO way I could wait that long to find out!  With perfect timing, Groupon offered a 3D/4D ultrasound package, so we chose to purchase it and drive across town to Baby's First Image 3D/4D Ultrasound.  It was a great experience and I would highly recommend this place because the ultrasound tech is so friendly and fun!

For the past month or more, I had a gut feeling this little person inside me was a GIRL.  Yet, my symptoms told me otherwise.  With no morning sickness, no weight gain, no acne, and overall a pretty easy pregnancy thus far, my body was definitely telling me BOY.  Jason was also convinced through his own gut feeling that it was a girl, too.

As we began the ultrasound, the first image we saw of baby was an amazingly developed hand, waving back and forth!  Baby was moving around, flipping and waving around it's arms and legs like crazy.  After about 30 seconds, the tech exclaimed that she already knew what it was!  She went through our "symptoms" and what usually predicts a boy or girl... and with our consciouses' telling us what we were pretty certain of, it came as a complete surprise! when the ultrasound tech said, "You both are wrong... it's a boy!"

Meet Baby BOY Kelton!  Jason couldn't be prouder.  I think he is actually more excited than I am about all of this (which is really hard to do, because I am SO excited)!  I'm hoping this little baby becomes a little mama's boy, while having a huge love for sports just like his daddy.

We can't wait to watch you grow and develop into a chubby little dude over the next 6 months, little man!  January can't come soon enough!

It's a BOY!

My favorite picture from the session.  Laying with his left arm at his ear, right arm above his head.

Old Wives' Tales: Gender Predictions

With so many different "Wives Tales" floating around the Internet and Pinterest, I wanted to try some out to see if we could get a general trend of what gender our baby would be!  So after lots of googling, reading, and testing, we came up with lots of different ways to "determine" the gender of our little bean.  By all means, please know that we did not take this seriously and was only for fun.  Jason was a good sport and put up with playing along and going through each and every test with me just for fun!

The first tests we did were easy graphs that we just googled and put our information in.  The Chinese Gender Predictor and the Mayan Gender Test were both charts that measured the date in which I conceived and my age at the time of conception.  Both of these results were: BOY!

The one thing I thought was super funny and very coincidental about the Chinese Gender Calendar, was the chart measured my Chinese Lunar age and month of conception as September 29... our wedding date!  Coincidence or fate....

The next tests consisted of symptoms that I have experienced throughout the first trimester of this pregnancy.  I had no morning sickness, which predicts BOY.  We figured that my "bump" that is in development was carrying quite low, which also predicts BOY.  The baby's heart rate has consistently been above 140 beats per minute... which always suggests GIRL.  I've been sleeping solely on my left side since becoming pregnant, which signifies BOY.   According to my lack of acne, that predicts BOY.  The cravings test, sweet is a girl, salty is a boy, was a tie for me.  I couldn't decide which I've been craving more since I've been craving both!

Another general test is the Hand Test.  When the mother is asked to show her hands, if she shows palm up, it represents a girl, palms down is a boy.  Our test came out as a GIRL.  Another similar test is how the mother picks up a key off of a table.  If she picks it up with the round/thick part, that signifies a boy, the skinnier end is a girl.  Our results were BOY.

The Wedding Ring test is done by tying your wedding band to a string, holding it above your belly and seeing which way the ring turns.  If it moves back and forth like a pendulum, it represents boy.  If it spins in a circle, it means girl.  After dangling my ring above my belly, we determined it was circling, meaning our result was GIRL.

The last test we completed was the Baking Soda Test.  This is done by placing a scoop of baking soda in a cup, peeing in the same cup, and seeing what happens to the baking soda.  If it fizzes, the result is a boy.  If it does nothing, it is a girl.  This was a weird one, and it definitely just sat there and did nothing, so that meant GIRL.

So, if you're lost with our tallies... I made a nice little chart to see how our results spanned out!

It looks like our predictions are leaning towards a baby boy!  We will see on Tuesday what the real deal is!  Stay tuned for the reveal!

Bump Watch: 13 Weeks

How far along? 13 weeks, 3 days
Total weight gain: Still none!
Maternity clothes? Luckily, my work attire consists of scrubs which are super easy with a nice little bump forming underneath.  The only time I wear real clothes lately is if we go out anywhere!  So sad.  Hence the lazy attire in the above pic!
Stretch marks? Nope!
Sleep: Still taking at least a 2 hour nap after work and in bed by 10!  I could sleep alllll the time.
Best moment this week: Feeling more "pregnant" when all my friends kept rubbing my bump and referring to the baby that will be here in 6 months!
Miss Anything? After attending a wedding and spending all weekend with our college friends... I may have had a hint of a thought of missing some mimosas and a cold beer.  Just for a second. :)
Movement: Not yet!
Food cravings: Nothing in particular this week.  Yummy watermelon at the cabin tasted AMAZING though!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Even though I may have missed alcohol for a second this weekend... I may have also been nauseated by the smell of everyone's drinks around me!
Gender prediction: Girl.

Labor Signs: Not even close!
Symptoms: Lots of round ligament pain that was pretty severe, so I made my first "worried wart" phone call to the Drs. office.  All is fine. :)
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and super tired!
Looking forward to: Scheduling our gender ultrasound and planning some gender reveals!

Zion Love

This weekend, we were lucky to spend three great days with our closest friends in Zion for a wedding!  Whitney and Joe had a rustic, country themed wedding at Clear Creek Ranch in Utah, and we shared a cabin down the way with our besties Friday thru Sunday.  We had 11 people in a decent sized cabin and had a great time!  As we drove through Zion, I snapped a billion pictures of the amazing scenery of the national park.

We stayed at Zion Mountain Ranch which was just down the road from the wedding site.  The ranch is on a buffalo reserve, so we got to enjoy watching buffalo the whole weekend!  The cabins sat on the top of a hill to overlook the reserve. There were also a ton of other animals on the ranch, including horses, ducks, chickens, mini horses, and lots of wasps that tried to ruin our weekend (but we won)!

Our cabin was the big one straight in the middle!

Our cabin was super cute, with two bedrooms, two pullout beds from the couches (which were terribly uncomfortable) and three twin bunk beds in the loft.  We had 1 1/2 bathrooms for all 11 of us, but surprisingly it worked out well!  We also had a tiny little kitchenette and an awesome back patio with a porch swing.  Spending time outside at nighttime on the porch was amazing.  The weather was warm during the day (about 100s), but completely cooled off at night time getting down to the 65s.  It was great just getting to hang out in the cabin, relaxing with our friends that we don't get to see very often.  These girls are my best friends from college, and when we all get together again, it's like nothing has ever changed (minus some new boys and my preggo belly!)  I have the best time with these girls and laugh my head off so much it hurts!

Late night drinks
The next morning, after enjoying breakfast, those of us not in the bridal party (who had to get ready for the wedding) took a hike through one of the trails in the National Park.  It was super hot, so we made it a quick hike, and hurried back to start getting ourselves ready for the wedding.
Holy bump!

Buffalo in the AM
We made our way to the wedding, which was located at Clear Creek Ranch.  Dinner and the reception were held in the ranch's red barn, and the ceremony site was a little walk down to a pretty, shaded area surrounded by trees.  We arrived and took photos for the photo guestbook (all DIY, which was great!), and then we ate some yummy BBQ food for dinner.  The ceremony was directly following dinner, so we made our way to watch Whitney and Joe exchange their vows and become Mr. & Mrs.  We all shot off capguns during their first kiss as husband and wife!  After the ceremony, it was party time at the reception in the barn!  We each got some adorable mason jars as our "drink cups" for the night, and while everyone else enjoyed their alcohol, I sipped on some OJ, pineapple and cranberry mixed drinks and lots of H20!  We danced the heck out of the barn and stayed out until 2 AM.  The party was brought back to our cabin and I don't think we ended up in bed until about 3:30-4 AM.  I was one tired mama-to-be!  Even without drinking alcohol, I felt hungover just being so exhausted the next day!  It was a great time and a great wedding!

Happy Wedding Day, Whitney and Joe!

On Sunday, we all got up, had a quick breakfast, cleaned and packed up and headed out to return home.  It was an amazing weekend that we got to spend with great friends, and we couldn't be happier for Whit and Joe to start their lives together as one!!
