Nolan was excited to take pictures with his little sis, and they both sported some tanks to ring in the summer weather!
Nolan loves showing Acelyn his cars and asks every morning if sissy can "play cars" with him.
I caught some big, sweet eyes with my camera and fell in love with this picture of Acelyn. It might be one of my favorites, which is ironic since one of my all time favorites of Nolan is right around the same age (3 weeks).
Our friends Jamie, Coen, and Shaw came over for a playdate and to meet Acelyn! It was nice to get the boys together since baby girl has come home and it was a welcome visit since we had been cooped up for a few weeks! Shaw is about 5 weeks older than Acelyn, so they are exactly the same age difference as Coen and Nolan! So much fun with these kiddos and we are glad to add more chaos to our mix! :) Acelyn had such a fun date, she passed out as soon as they went home!
We had lots of photoshoots this month, and since I know how quickly this newborn stage flies by, I want to be able to take as many pictures of her as I can to remember her tiny-ness!
Nolan played with his trucks and cars while Acelyn practiced some tummy time, watching on. She spent all her energy and just rested the rest of the time, looking as roly-poly as ever!
After our morning feeding sesh, Acelyn showed off her cheeks and rolls.
I spent an afternoon full of laundry while everyone, including Harley, got in some naps (except me!)
Nolan shared his hat with sister... She wasn't impressed.
Acelyn turned one month old!
We got our Dock-a-Tot and Acelyn has been napping and sleeping well in it since! I wish they made an adult size because it looks ridiculously comfy!
When we received our Dock-a-Tot, it came with a cardboard cutout to retain it's shape. Nolan has been using it as a surfboard and thinks it is hilarious to surf to "surfing music" and we spend some in the morning just having a little dance party! This particular dance party involved me teaching him the Tequila dance move from Pee Wee Herman. He added the spins. Classic.
Nolan enjoyed showing Acelyn all of her baby toys, and she was really into the stuffed zebra! Her favorite thus far is definitely Sophie the Giraffe, though. He loves to share his toys and repeats, "Look it, sis, look it!" nonstop while we do this. He's been having a rough time adjusting to his sister and has been acting out in different ways, but he truly does enjoy spending time with her and it makes my heart happy to see him want to be around her and share his things.
Now that I'm feeling (slowly) better day by day (seriously, worst postpartum recovery EVER)... we've gotten out of the house more and done some shopping. We tested out our stroller with it converted to two seats, and it worked beautifully! Nolan loves sitting on the bottom and keeps himself entertained down there. Other times while we are out, I wear Acelyn in the Solly wrap, which is my preferred method because she is more comfortable (she hates her carseat), and I have open hands for containing Nolan, who is typically pretty busy.
Acelyn started cooing and making sounds other than crying this month, so I've tried my hardest to catch some of her convos on camera.
Acelyn sported her first knotted headband and looked adorable in her bloomers and little dress! (Thanks Auntie Desa for my cute headband, we love it!)
Harley spotted a fly in the house and had a staring match with it. The fly won.
Nolan started eating fruit pouches, which is a huge improvement since he has always refused fruit and 100% prefers veggies. We were both pretty happy about it!
Acelyn's hair has gotten so crazy and untamable, so we just let it do what it wants everyday! She's actually lost a lot of it (or her head has just grown a ton) since she was born, and now it has a nice little funky fluff to it at the top, so we work with what we have.
She showed off her pout face that kills me every time. Wah!
In addition to chatting it up this month, Acelyn also started smiling in response to us! She is super selective about when she lets out her tiny little grin, but it's the cutest thing ever when she does. I managed to catch the end of it in this video and another end of it in a photo. Now I just need the whole progression from start to finish!
Acelyn modeled off an adorable outfit, and we both wore our matching bracelets from June and Penny that we won with a credit from an Instagram giveaway. These are seriously the cutest and most precious little bracelets and I'm obsessed!
We spent a weekend out to breakfast at The Kitchen Table with the Luks fam and our friend Erik, who was in from out of town. The boys were obsessed with each other and were full of hugs. And I can't believe how big all three of these dudes are getting... it's crazy!
For Father's Day, we spent a relaxing day at home, watching the U.S. Open and enjoying dinner in the evening. Acelyn showed her love for Daddy on her outfit, and Nolan made him a funny Yoda handprint card that he loved! We are so thankful to have such a hard working Daddy and love him so very, very much!!
Our upstairs AC unit decided to quit on us on the hottest day of the year... so that was fun. We ended up having a sleepover downstairs, and Nolan thought it was the coolest thing to have his bed downstairs with all of his toys, and that Mom and Dad were sleeping inches away from him, too! The next morning, he got right to playing and by late afternoon, our unit was replaced and we had air again, thank Goodness!
It was so hot and Nolan had been asking to play with his water table, so I got creative and brought it inside for him to play. I figured it was just water and hoped he wouldn't destroy the house, and I was right! He did great and kept most of the water inside the pool, with a few splashes here and there. It was definitely worth the 40+ minutes of entertainment we got out of it!
Acelyn practiced more tummy time, but quit early and was thoroughly unmotivated to cry to move!
As I was getting dressed one morning, I turned around to see Acelyn "playing" with Nolan, as he put it. She didn't seem very thrilled about it, but didn't cry and Nolan was being extremely gentle with positioning each part around her... so I couldn't help but laugh and snap a picture!
Nolan and Acelyn had a sibling photoshoot together which was a total fail. I'm going to have to learn how to take pictures of these two together and get decent shots, because this time didn't work at.all! Nolan ended up melting down five minutes into it so we called it quits and I just finished up snapping shots of this silly girl! She has just started smiling more and more, and I also got to document her "birdy face", as we like to call it, which is a very surprised look with some curious eyes and o-faced mouth! So funny!
We took a trip to Albertson's and Nolan shared his Buzz balloon with Acelyn. It's the little things that keep him entertained!
I introduced Acelyn to the fine music of 80s rap, and she jammed out while showing off her chubby thighs and perfect rhythm!
We took a trip down to the Springs Preserve for "Star Wars" week and free admission week with our friends! We were sadly disappointed when we discovered it was far less Star Wars-y than we thought, and it was packed to the max, and it was a ton of chaos with so many of us, but the kiddos had a good time and it was a way to get out of the house. We had an unfortunate incident with the Divine Cafe at the Springs Preserve, where they refused to let us sit and feed our kids the packed lunch we brought them (even after we offered to purchase items as a paying customer, we still were told we would have to leave), so we ended up feeding the kids outside in the heat (yes, the babies too!) I'm still heated about the situation, and haven't decided if I should write in to higher level.... but we were thoroughly disappointed with the situation and it makes me sad that more people can't have empathy for Mamas just trying to give their kids what they need. {end rant} At least Coen and Nolan ended on a good note playing with this lizard!
We started up Tot School again the last week of the month, and Nolan has been SO enjoying the routine back into our schedule. This past week, we learned about America and the 4th of July, and Nolan loved making the "Captain America" flag (i.e.: American flag).
He's memorized his "Months" and "Days of the Week" songs, so I finally have them recorded and I am in love with how he says a ton of words at this age. So, SO cute!
Nolan continued his "sharing" of toys and spread the patriotism at our house while I decorated for the 4th and we continued our patriotic Tot School learning!
Finally, Acelyn wore a few pieces from Aunt Denise and Uncle Georges, all the way from France, so we had to share some pictures of her cute little shoes and onesie! (Oh, and check out those chins!) :)
...Until next month!
