Fall Leaves in the Desert

We took a quick trip up to Red Rock Canyon to adventure around in the fall leaves, in hopes of getting a few pictures of the kids for our holiday card this year.  We had been up in the area once before for our engagement photos, but not during the fall, and I was excited to see how "fall"ish it would look.  To our surprise, the leaves were completely changed and so pretty! The kids absolutely loved crunching around in them and tossing them in the air, and in reality, that's how we got most of our pictures, since Acelyn is anti-photo-taking and getting the two of them together in a picture, smiling (let alone just looking at the camera) is like pulling teeth!  So, we took a little hike around, snapped away, and had a fun morning exploring nature and celebrating fall!

Looking back at these pictures makes me realize how quickly these little babies are growing up, and I want to take in every second of them being this age!  I'm glad I had Jason snap a few pictures with me in front of the camera rather than behind, because it just doesn't happen enough and I need to be better about making that happen (even if the kids don't smile or look at the camera)!  Couldn't love this family of mine any more... so lucky to call them mine!

Happy, happy fall!

Acelyn: 18 Months

Acelyn is officially closer to being a TWO year old than a one year old.  Cue instant tears here.  How is that possible!?

October Happenings

The month started off with a lazy Moana filled, messy bed head morning for us.

Acelyn had such a productive Sunday, that she fell asleep in her high chair after lunch.  I placed her on the floor for a second while I cleaned up, and she stayed snoozin' and looked adorable as ever.

Halloween Events and Traditions 2017

As every fall, October marks the start of our busy holiday season, with tons of local events to attend celebrating each holiday.  Halloween is definitely one of our favorites, and having more than one costume has become kind of a tradition, now.  I love getting creative and trying to DIY my best attempt, and this year was no exception!

We started our first Halloween event of the season at Black Mountain's Trunk or Treat.  It always falls on the Thursday before Halloween, but this year, school was out for Nevada Day on Friday, so it was much busier than years past.  We waited in a lot of long lines, but the kids still had a good time, cashing in on their first Trick or Treat of the year, plus playing lots of games along the trick or treat path.  We met up with the Nowaks and Goodnows for a few minutes, but because it was so busy, we ended up getting separated for some time.  The boys were able to play games together towards the end, and it was fun to see that they are finally old enough to understand and be able to play most of them!

Gilcrease Orchard 2017

Fall has officially made it's way to Vegas with some cooler temperatures, and what better way to really get into the fall spirit than to visit our favorite spot for pumpkin picking... Gilcrease Orchard!  This is my absolute favorite tradition for fall, and I love that the kids are old enough to fully enjoy it, too!

We started out the morning early, and it was still really cool in the 60s which made for perfect fall weather!  Acelyn eyed everything closely in the beginning while she took a ride in the wagon, and wasn't quite sure about all the people around and what exactly was going on, at first.

Once she saw "PUH-INS!" in the photo op area, she was hooked.  Nolan sat on every one asking for his picture to be taken, and Acelyn just kept touching and inspecting each one.  Since we weren't quite to the pumpkin patch yet, we made a pit stop in the apple trees, where Acelyn loved running through the grass and Nolan was focused on finding apples in the trees (except that they were all picked off already!)
