Acelyn's Nursery

Since finding out we'd be welcoming a little girl into our family, I had a pretty decent idea of what Acelyn's nursery looked like in my mind.  It was tough finding words to describe my vision, especially in searching for things on Pinterest and the likes.  I knew since before Nolan was even born that I wanted to incorporate pink flamingos into our girl's nursery theme.... I had the idea brewing even before pink flamingos became such a hip thing (when pregnant with Nolan, if he were a girl, that was my nursery inspiration at the time)!  I also knew I didn't want a slew of flamingoes crowding and annoying the room, so it became a mixture of color hues that I enjoyed mixed with a touch of pink flamingoes, as I described her nursery to many.

I wanted it to be light and airy, with peach, coral, pink and gray as my main focus colors.  When I came across Little Unicorn, and saw the Watercolor Rose quilt, I knew that was the one for baby girl. I loved how light it was and had no need for a full crib bedding set, and don't regret our decision one bit!  The quilt is so soft yet has a nice heft to it, and the colors and design are a perfect addition to my vision.

A little more than halfway through my pregnancy, I stumbled across this large wall hanging at Hobby Lobby on clearance, and couldn't get it out of my mind for the entire time I was there.  At first, I thought it wouldn't match or fit in very well to what I was envisioning.  Yet, it kept nagging at the back of my mind until I finally went back, grabbed it, and threw it in my cart.  Once I got it home and matched it up with what I had at the time, I knew it was perfect.  The saying is everything to me and it couldn't be more true for our little Acelyn!

Her wall collage is a mixture of more cute Hobby Lobby wall hangings as well as flamingo prints, patterns that coordinate with her quilt and our maternity pictures, which will soon be switched out to her newborn photos once I get some of those printed off.  Nolan made the handprint flamingoes himself, and was extremely proud to show it off to his little sister the first time we brought her into her nursery.  It is by far my favorite item in her room, and the pride that beams from his face when he shows it off is beyond heartfelt!  I know that will be a special momento that our family will keep forever.

Since Acelyn's room is so tiny in dimensions, we decided to nix the closet doors and have an open closet system.  After lots of trial and error, we kind of DIY'd our own version of what we wanted and Jason put together a simple yet effective closet that I love.

To say I'm obsessed with this room is an understatement!  During the end of my pregnancy, I would find myself sneaking peeks of it as I would pass by, just to enjoy our hard work and the light, pretty room it had become.  I always thought if we were to ever have a little girl, I would steer clear of the pinks and girly details ... yet, I was completely drawn to a bright, girly room and am so glad it turned out the way it did!
