Acelyn's 2nd birthday party snuck right up on me this year... how in the world can my baby be turning TWO already!? Because she has such a sweet tooth, and one of my absolute favorite words she says is "ic-sh guppies" (ice cream), we decided to throw her an ice cream themed birthday party. I decided to venture outside our norm of throwing the kids' birthday parties at our house, and set up at a local park and splash pad, which was actually perfect and easy in so many ways! We chose our favorite one, with fun fountains and one of Acelyn and Nolan's favorite park structures to play at.
Before our guests arrived, I tried to snap some pictures of the birthday girl, but wasn't getting many smiles from her. She still looked cute, regardless:
Auntie Stacey was in town, so her and Grandma helped set up, and I was so happy with how everything came out! Simple enough for a park, yet cute enough for high Mommy-standards!
Of course, the highlight of the party was the Ice Cream Sundae Bar, complete with toppings, syrup, cone or cup! Our ice cream surpassingly stayed solid in our ice chest, despite the heat, which was my main concern. Acelyn also got her own sprinkle cake to blow her candles out on, and I couldn't resist the cute cone cake topper to go with it!
As for the other food, we kept it simple with sandwiches, salads and chips. My favorite Pinterest find was the Fruit Waffle Cones, which tasted as good as they looked.
For favors, each kiddo received their own "Homemade Ice Cream" cup of bubbles, ice cream chalk, lip gloss and a sprinkle slap bracelet. I loved putting these together and was secretly excited to make a few extra for my kiddos to keep, too!
Acelyn started her party by playing on the playground for a while before making her way into the water. She kept her distance from the spray fountains and dump buckets, but her and her bestie Perry made the best team splashing the tiny fountains and stomping in the puddles!
They all moved from splash pad to playground and back and forth all morning, running around and having fun!
Soon enough, everyone worked up an appetite for some lunch....
The kids got to create their own ice cream sundaes with chocolate, vanilla or strawberry ice cream, and any topping of their choosing!
Acelyn opened her gifts before the end of her big day, and loved all the great things her family and friends brought her. Thank you to everyone who sent a gift, near or far, and for everyone that came to help celebrate our big two-year old! I know she had such a perfect birthday and she still talks about her "so fun splash pad day!"
