December Happenings

December was a jam-packed month filled with lots of holiday activities, food, friends and family!  It was by far one of our best months to date!  Here's a closer look into our happenings...

We spent the morning of the first of the month in front of our Christmas tree, reading Christmas books and enjoying the gloomy weather.  Winter and Christmas are finally here!

Nolan continued cruising around the house with his new found walking skills, and gave his little birdie a little love:

I decorated the house with all of our decor and new crafts I had time to make!  Some of the pictures are posted in our Christmas traditions blog post.

We had a night out at Town Square in the beginning of the month, trying a new restaurant out for dinner: Pot Liquor CAS.  It was pretty tasty and not super busy because the weather was so rainy and foggy.  Jason had to go in to work after for a late night inspection, so I stuck around Town Square with Nolan because I wanted to catch the 7:00 Snow in the Square.  Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, we did some shopping for a few minutes and then made our way over to the giant Christmas Tree.  Nolan was amazed with the colors and lights, and once it started snowing, he had an absolute blast!  He was in awe of the "snow" that was falling on his head, and kept walking in circles trying to figure it out!  It may have been one of my most favorite moment of the month and of all the Christmas activities we did!

The fog was the thickest I've ever seen it since we've lived up in Paradise Hills, and it felt like I was driving into the abyss as I made my way home one afternoon.

We had a fun Christmas photoshoot for our Christmas card pictures.

Nolan played with empty wrapping paper tubes one night after dinner... Simple pleasures.

I caught him being very pensive about his lunch one afternoon... (hahaha):

We continued following Nolan walk around the whole house and improve his skills daily:

Nolan rocked his Mr. T onesie from Auntie Bobbie:

Harley looked hilarious for a picture while playing with his toy:

We visited Ethel M's Cactus Garden as one of our yearly Christmas traditions.

Nolan and Daddy had fun reading books before bed one night.

A nasty stomach virus hit our home, with Nolan being the first victim.  He felt fine and still acted like his normal self, but let's just say we were doing laundry every hour for a whole week!  Not fun.

Nolan spent one afternoon just hanging around.

I crafted for Nolan's first birthday and was super happy with how some things came out!

Someone discovered the kitchen cabinets and we definitely installed some safety locks the weekend afterwards.

We also took another photoshoot of Nolan's first birthday invitation pictures

We crafted some holiday keepsake ornaments one afternoon for ourselves and for gifts for some family.  These handprints came out much better than our first attempt at paint with a baby.  Loved how these came out, thanks Pinterest!

Nolan turned 11 months old and we visited the Bellagio Conservatory to help celebrate my mom's birthday.

Little man had some craaaazy hair after his bath, so we decided the next day that we would get Nolan's hair cut for the first time (I was putting this off for so long, it was definitely time)!  He did so well and enjoyed sitting in the fun car and wearing the cool cape!  Elmo was on T.V. in front of him, so that was exciting, too.  He liked playing with the steering wheel, but every so often, would check in with the hair stylist just to make sure he could trust her... haha!  Once the clippers came out, he kind of freaked out, and cried just a little bit.  Afterwards, we were given a lock of his hair with a certificate for "Nolan's 1st Haircut!"  He looked SO big afterwards and I may have shed a tear or two on the drive home.  He's so handsome!

During a quick visit to Babies R' Us, Nolan spotted the Sesame Street truck near the front doors.  I always thought he would be older to have an interest to ride this, but since he pointed it out and got really excited about Bert and Ernie, I cashed in 50 cents and let him try.  He seemed okay with it but wasn't too excited.  He liked to press the horn buttons and hold the steering wheel, but we'll probably skip it the next few times we are there! :)

Google decided to send me this year-in-review video that almost had me in tears... why does the first year have to go so fast!?

Nolan caught up on his 25 Days of Christmas Books reading...

He fell asleep like a koala baby on me before his nap:

He showed me that Santa is apparently a Ladies Man and looked completely guilty after knocking over our poinsettia plant:

We changed our Advent Calendar every single day of the month, and Nolan learned how to say "Ho Ho Ho" when asked what Santa says (the wooden piece that fits into each pocket was Santa Claus).  Unfortunately no video to go with that. :(

We had Nolan's one year pictures, cake smash, and some family photos taken by a new photographer since our old go-to photog moved.  We had our pictures taken at the Smith Center, and I couldn't help but compare our current family picture to last years maternity shoot in the same setting (35 weeks pregnant vs. 11 months old)!

We loved meeting Kyla and can't wait to book her again for another photoshoot in the future!  If you are looking for a great photographer, check out Kyla Groneman Photography!

The next day, Nolan carried his balloon from his photoshoot around everywhere he went!

I found the cutest reindeer in my living room:

Nolan started falling asleep bent over like this in his crib... Ouch!  I try to move him every time this happens... that can't be good or comfortable!?

I got to wear some of my Jamberry holiday nails and absolutely loved how they came out:

We made Christmas cookies, visited Quiver Point and the Desert Olive house, and watched Elf on the night before Christmas Eve.

We celebrated Christmas Eve at my mom's house and prepared for Santa's visit!

Christmas Day was amazing and Nolan loved his first Christmas!

Our good friend Bobbie was in town, so we met up for lunch to visit with her.  We ate at Eat. and then hung out at Container Park afterwards.  It was so great catching up with Bobbie and I love that she loves Nolan!  It's so nice to be able to see friends when they are in town, because I miss all my college girls so much!

Daddy and Nolan had some bonding time playing on the new Playstation 4... Like father, like son!

I sported my new Best Job Ever shirt from Ezra and Eli (that I had been wanting for monnnnths, thanks babe!) and wore matching sweaters with my little:

Nolan figured out where and what his tongue is, and likes to stick it out in the mirror all the time!

We spent an afternoon (literally) in the reading basket, and then had a temper tantrum.  Nolan looked way too cute while throwing his tantrum in his hoodie ears... Ugh!

We received yet another Christmas gift (spoiled) from Auntie Chelsea, Uncle Allen and Everette... and to say Nolan loved this gift is an understatement!  He dances next to it and always asks to ride his giraffe.  New favorite toy, for sure!  Thanks so much, guys, we love you!

On New Year's Eve day, the weather was super gloomy and SO cold, and it decided to SNOW!  I threw some warm clothes on Nolan and ran outside with him in the morning, not knowing how long it would last.  Just like at Town Square, he loved it (except this stuff was real!) and he kept walking around trying to figure it out.  We didn't stay out too long in it, but once we came back in, the snow got thicker and decided to stick to the ground.  We watched out the window and Nolan was mesmerized by it!

New Year's Eve snuck up on us in the hustle and bustle of the holidays, but we decided to throw a NYE party/potluck at our house.  It was a fun night and we enjoyed having our closest friends over to visit, eat, drink, and let the kids go crazy together.  Nolan lasted until 10:00PM, and Hudson almost made it to midnight, but passed out at 11:38PM!  Scarlett was such a big girl and rang in the New Year with all us adults!  She got to cheers with Sparkling Cider and thought it was so delicious, that she had to lick her glass clean!  Silly girl.  It was a great night and we can't wait to see what 2015 brings our family and friends!

What an amazing year we had!!  I can't even believe the year is over and our next big party is going to be Nolan's first birthday in a few weeks!!  INSANE!  Here is to hoping 2015 is just as great as this past year and it brings happiness, health and a few surprises along the way!  Happy New Year!
