Spring has sprung and we had another busy month, with lots of time outside! We're trying to enjoy this amazing weather before it starts to get too hot, which won't be too long now. Here's a look at what we were up to!
We started off the month by hanging out at Bass Pro Shops, visited the mermaids and played with the toys (for both kids and big kids!)
Bathtime was extra fun one night and we snapped some pictures to show off We shaped his long hair one final time before Nolan's haircut the next day....
Where he went from shaggy to....
VERY short and hacked. Oops. Luckily it grows back!
Nolan sported his cute bear shirt that his Aunt Denise and Uncle Georges brought back from their Yosemite trip a few months back.
He continued his sticker obsession and can say "sticker" a little better than before:
We took Harley to Bark in the Park at Cornerstone Park, which we've gone to before with him. This was Nolan's first time going and I knew he would love seeing all the different dog-dogs around! They have booths with adoptions for different dog rescues in town, retail booths, music, games and demonstrations. We hung out for about an hour or so, and both boys had a great day outside! Harley was pooped but happy once we got in the car to drive home.
I started arts and craft time with Nolan this month, and he's made some great masterpieces and plenty of messes! I plan on taking pictures of all of his projects so they can go into our yearly photo books, rather than collecting pages upon pages of coloring, painting and crafts that he makes over the years!
For one of our first projects, we tried fingerpainting, but mess-free in a Ziploc bag (thanks, Pinterest!). It was by far the smartest thing on the planet and the cleanup is amazingly easy, plus Nolan loves it! Here were our first creations:
The weather has been amazing and we have been spending lots of time out front, playing with outside toys, running around and drawing with chalk (Nolan's favorite).
The two boys of the house played together and gave each other lots of brotherly love!
We went to the semi-annual Brew's Best Beer Festival, as we always do every Spring and Fall, and my mom watch Nolan while we enjoyed ourselves. Usually the festival is at Lake Las Vegas, but they moved it to Town Square for the Spring season. It wasn't nearly as nice as when it's at MonteLago Village, but it was still a fun time sampling lots of different beers with our friends. Warm weather, good beer and friends, live music... no matter where it's held it's bound to be fun! We sobered up at Yardhouse for dinner and had a great day!
For St. Patrick's Day weekend, we took Nolan to his first carnival in downtown Henderson!
We joined our friends, The Luks, at the District for lunch and a splash pad play date on afternoon. After a yummy lunch at Panera, Nolan got to play at the splash pad for the very first time... and hated it! He was not a fan of the unpredictable water spraying out at him, plus it was super cold. Poor Hudson couldn't understand why No-No didn't want to run around with him in the fountains! I kept trying to reintroduce him to the water, but he just wasn't having it. He played a little with some toys on the outskirts of the splash pad, and then relaxed in his stroller, just watching his friends play. Silly boy! We'll keep trying with the splash pad.... yet another thing he is slow to warm up to!
Nolan got a fun Nemo chair, and had a hard time figuring out how to sit down in it! Once he got it down, he learned to love to drag it around the house, wrestle on it and jump all over it. He also uses it to sit and eat his snacks while he catches up on his Sesame Street episodes.
This happened. And continues to happen now that he knows how fun it is to unravel the toilet paper when he sneaks into the bathroom (it's usually off-limits)!
Nolan asks for the dog-dog a bajillion times a day, and if Harley is sleeping somewhere else in the house, or if we have just come home from being out, the first thing Nolan does is run around calling out for him. Once he finds him, it's like he hasn't seen him in years, and he squeals with delight! Cutest. Thing. Ever.
We spent an afternoon at the park and ran around in the grass, soaking up the sun! We also spent some time on the playground, and Nolan is slowly becoming more comfortable with the play structures, interacting with other kids and going down the slide by himself.
I printed off the NCAA March Madness bracket for myself to fill out (since I missed my electronic entry deadline), and also came across this super cute and fun Kids' Version Bracket (found here). Nolan had fun picking between two mascots on who he would like to move forward in the tournament, round by round. You can guarantee he had all the teams with dog-dogs moving on to the next round!
Nolan has gotten hooked on M&Ms, and because of is newfound interest in these delicious little gems, he has learned to say M&M! It is probably my favorite word he's learned to say, thus far!
We had a lunch date at Costco while running some errands during the week, and Nolan ate more pizza than I did! We also spotted the Google Images/Maps car taking their lunch break, too! It felt like winning a scavenger hunt when I snapped this picture... I can't image this car is easy to find on a regular occurrence!
One of my besties finally tracked down some Ben & Jerry's new release ice cream that we've been searching for for weeks, and texted me there were only four left at Von's. Jason, being the lovely husband he is, rushed out the door in a second and came back with two of these ammmmmmazing pints that I may or may not have eaten all of in one sitting. It is by far the best ice cream I've ever had.
Harley got a special ride and cracked me up for a whole 20 minutes of being pushed around by Nolan. They both loved it even though Harley's face says otherwise. He refused to get out, crazy dog!
We went shopping at the outlet mall, and Nolan flirted it up with strangers while we ate a quick snack in the food court. That smile and those eyes.... he's gonna get all the girls, even if he is shy!
Nolan's BFF and best cousin ever sent him the best text message... he learned to say Nolan's name!! SO CUTE!! We're working on Nolan saying Everette.... Although it may take a while for that one. Haha! We miss and love these guys SO much!
This little guy hung out on our screen door, which freaked me out and fascinated Nolan. Luckily he's just a small lizard and can't hurt anyone... or didn't get in our house. Kind of cool, but also kind of terrifying! We'll continue to let these friends stay outside... :)
...Until next month!
