McKee Ranch Spring Ranch Days

While my mom had time off of work for Spring Break, we decided to check out McKee Ranch for their Ranch Days festivities.  I knew Nolan would love the animals, and although I was hesitant based on things I had heard about the ranch, we figured it was worth checking out and made an afternoon of it.

When we got there, we started with the horses, chickens, roosters, and Duncan the donkey.  Nolan was climbing out of his stroller to get after the chickens the moment he laid eyes on them.  We brought crackers and carrots to feed the animals, and that definitely didn't disappoint!  We got bombarded by a million chickens when we broke the crackers out, which first scared Nolan a bit, but then he realized how hilarious it was to feed them and wanted to, nonstop!  We moved on to feed Duncan the donkey, who Nolan absolutely fell in love with.  He kept petting his fur and wanting to feed him carrots, and loved when he nibbled and made funny noises while he ate.  When we walked away, Duncan kicked the door as to say, I want more!  So we went back and gave him more, because it was so cute.  We also fed and pet some horses, and snuck in on some baby turkeys running around a closed in stable.

Afterwards, we moved on to the back of the ranch, where a local photographer (La La Photography) had a Spring minishoot set up for free, with no obligation to purchase and an option to buy later if we ended up liking them, so I figured it would be worth trying a few poses to see if we could get any cute ones of little man.  He really wasn't having it with the photoshoot, just sitting around, super serious and looking at us like we were crazy, jumping around trying to get him to smile!  I was shocked when I saw the finished photos and how many came out SO cute!  I only ended up purchasing one, but took screen shots of the watermarked photos to share.

Once the minishoot was over, we wandered over to see some pigs, goats, met some more horses, and even a few mini horses!  Once we hung out with them for a while, Nolan was ready to ride his first pony!  He was a little nervous at first, but once the horse started moving, he was kind of into it, but held on really tight!  We only went around a few times, but he did really well for his first time!

(video is sideways, sorry!)

It was getting close to nap time, so we decided to venture home after our time at the Ranch.  It wasn't exactly what I had pictured, but Nolan enjoyed his time there and experienced a few firsts with some cool animals, which is all that mattered!
